Fighting game character design project. For an internal discord friend group, spanning a few months.
The challenge was to create an entirely new character from scratch, and then design skins for them.
My character is Enya, a mischievous girl who lives in the snow with her tribal adoptive family. The concept is that as she gets more hurt, her size and damage grows,in proportion.
The shapes chosen for her are mostly round and non-threatening. It reflects that even as destructive as she is, it's mostly not because of aggression, but playfulness. I tried to preserve that idea across all her skins, where the first read is usually her head/shoulderpiece, followed by her arms. Design accents that I tried to preserve, whenever possible - braids somewhere in the hairstyle, and some callbacks to a wolf's nature.
The default skin jacket is meant to look ill-fitting to emphasise her youth, and make her feel somewhat clumsy. The inspiration is from babies that are bundled really tight.
